Bus √Čireann provide services to County Cork from Dublin, Waterford, Limerick and other counties. In addition, the Cork City services are operated by Bus √Čireann. The bus station is located a short walk from the city centre, on Parnell Place.

Railway services:
The Dublin / Cork line serves Co. Cork with stations at Charleville, Mallow, Cork, Fota and Cobh. The Dublin / Tralee line serves Charleville, Mallow, Banteer, Millstreet and Rathmore. Services operate to most of the country from Cork-Kent Station, including to Kerry, Limerick, Waterford, and Wexford. Cork-Kent Station is located on the lower Glanmire Road. Useful things to remember to bring:

  • Adaptor -Ireland uses a 3 point electric plug which is different from other European countries.
  • Photo copy of passport.
  • Bed linen, towels, pillow & blanket. Each bed is a single bed (3' wide).
  • Insurance - residents are advised to put their own insurance policy in place for their personal belongings.
  • Overseas students -to save on buying a new mobile phone, remember to get your phone unblocked prior to your move. You can then purchase an Irish sim card when you arrive.
